I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California (license number is MFC42069).
I graduated from California State University of Northridge with a Masters of Science in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in counseling. I graduated from Northridge with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology.
My thesis was titled "Culture Shock: Lessening Acculturation Stress for School Age Children". My own experience of moving to a new country at a young age inspired me to write this.
Much of my experience was working with families, couples and individuals . My work included working with children and adolescents utilizing play therapy. Running groups is something I love to do and have found consistently good results from them. I ran many different types of groups at Culver City Middle School and High School such as drug and alcohol prevention groups, anger management groups, support groups and ADHD groups. In addition, I was trained in crisis intervention at Didi Hirsch Mental Health and therefore, was able to help individuals who experienced a trauma.
I also became interested in Mediation and Conflict Resolution to better assist my clients and was trained for this at Loyola Law School. I have taught a conflict resolution and prejudice reduction curriculum to school age children at La Ballona Elementary School. This gave me the opportunity to help children learn to communicate better, be more assertive, and learn anti-bullying strategies.
I was born in Israel and speak Hebrew. Being bi-cultural has helped me be able to be open and accepting of different cultures. In addition, I have a very good understanding of the hardships of moving to a new location, especially during school age years.
I enjoy most of my time off with my family and good friends.
I believe that the basic foundation of therapy is a good relationship between the therapist and client. In a caring, supportive and non-judgmental environment, you will notice how change begins to occur. Depending on the personal issue, I like to utilize and combine approaches that will benefit my client. These include a humanistic approach, cognitive behavioral, psycho-dynamic, family systems, and Gestalt therapy.
